Enhance your pet’s health with chiropractic care

With a passion for animal wellness and a dedication to holistic healing, we are here to provide chiropractic services tailored to your pet's needs.

Our approach

Your pet's nervous system is essential for their overall well-being, influencing factors such as gait, organ function, and attitude. At Furrero Animal Chiropractic, our primary objective is to restore balance to your pet's nervous system by improving the mobility of their spine and other joints through chiropractic care.

Meet Dr. Alex

Dr. Alex graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences. During her final year of school, she was dual-enrolled in a program called ACES, where she underwent rigorous coursework and hands-on labs to learn chiropractic care for animals. She successfully passed the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association board examination, obtaining full certification to work with your furry companion. Dr. Alex brings a wealth of experience in working with small animals due to her background as a veterinary technician before and during her chiropractic education.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Alex enjoys activities like yoga, hiking, discovering aesthetically pleasing coffee shops, and traveling with her husband. She is the proud owner of two dogs, Molly and Fritz, whom she delights in engaging with new sports, training, leisurely walks, and, of course, plenty of belly rubs!

 FAQs

  • Animal chiropractic focuses on correcting restrictions, or joints that aren’t moving properly, within the spinal column and extremities. These restrictions can cause issues such as gait dysfunction, pain, and behavioral changes in your pet. When a restriction is found, it is corrected through a gentle and specific manipulation. By restoring proper motion to these joints, the nervous system can function at its full potential.

  • Many factors go into creating a treatment plan specific to your pet. They include age, weight, the amount of time the issue has been going on before seeking care, diet, chiropractic findings during the first examination, and other diagnoses they may have. The ultimate goal is to get your pet on a maintenance plan that fits their lifestyle and needs.

  • Clients seek our care for a wide range of patient needs. Some of the most frequently encountered issues include hind-end weakness, limping, neck or back pain, seizures, pain management, suspected disc injury, TMJ dysfunction, urinary incontinence, performance for sporting animals, as well as wellness care.

  • After their adjustment, your pet may experience some soreness, particularly if it is their first one. We advise against high-intensity exercise for 24-48 hours following the adjustment. Additionally, it's normal for your pet to feel sleepy after their session. It's important to allow them to rest, as the body undergoes the most healing during this time. A few days after the appointment, your pet should be feeling great!

  • YES! In the state of IL, veterinary referral is required. After completing your new patient information, a form will be sent to the primary veterinarian you list as your pet’s provider. It is very important you provide this information, as your pet cannot be seen for our care without signed permission from your vet.
